Feast of St. Blaise/Blessing of the throats will take place on Feb 3rd at all three masses. Ash Wednesday Feb 17th. Parishioners are asked to bring old palms to burn. Black Books have been ordered for lent. Concerns of the Liturgy Committee (Addressed under New Business) Finance Committee Doug reported that the Finance Committee has been working very hard to get the budgets worked out. The numbers given to the committee at their January meeting are not correct. Bill Rokenbroad has volunteered to work weekends to find the discrepancies and have a valid report to work from. Constituency Report Parishioners want to know if they will be receiving a donation report for 2009. These reports are generated by Cathedral Envelopes and should be mailed out soon. Old Business Status of the School Lisa reported to the council that $108, 406 have been raised in pledges and donations and 75 students have registered for the 2010 2011 school year. Current enrollment is 86. There was much discussion on pledges vs cash donations. Council members werent aware that parishioners and alumni would have the option to pledge. Fr. Peter told the council that he had a meeting in Rochester the next day (Jan. 28th) concerning the status of the school, and he would seek the advice of the diocese concerning the pledges. Fr. stated that he would contact Dave Watt with the results of the meeting. New Members Fran Tucker reported that the new members received a letter, inviting them to attend the January meeting. John Piesher was in attendance. The other 3 members were unable to attend the meeting. New Business Concerns of the Liturgy Committee - Fr. Peter addressed the concerns. Parish bulletin not pertinent to weekly activities (sick list needs updating, no penance service times in the bulletin) Fr. suggested that any items dealing with the liturgy need to be put in the parish planner in the office by the liturgy committee. Mary Ann Logan will check the planner and submit to the bulletin. Appearance of the parish office work is piling up. Due to the termination of the office secretary, there has not been adequate coverage in the office. Fr. has hired a part time secretary/bookkeeper starting Feb 1st. Liturgy committee would like to see the minutes of all the committees published in the bulletin. Fr. informed the council that all the minutes are on the parish website. Parishioners will be informed that the website is up and running and to check the website for minutes. Fr. reported that James Flansburg had resigned as Business Manager, effective Monday January 25th. The position will be posted in the Jan 30th/31st weekend bulletin. The Human Resource department with the diocese will be handling the applications. Pastors Report Fr. reported that the Finance Committee suggested hiring Catherine Ebert for 20 hours per week to help out in the parish office as a secretary/bookkeeper starting Feb. 1st. This is a temporary position until we know the status of the school. Fr. asked the council to start thinking about parish goals for the next 3 years. These goals will be discussed at our March meeting. Fr. also requested the members to think about the possibility of having a Volunteer Recognition Day and a parish picnic. Meeting was closed with a prayer at 8:52PM. Next Meeting Date Wednesday February 17th in St. Anns School meeting room at 7:00PM. This will be a combined meeting with the Finance Committee. Next regular meeting of the Pastoral Council will be on Wednesday March 24th at 7:00 PM in St Anns School meeting room.
